PayPal Shopping Cart On Your NoteWay Website

We are happy to announce that we have updated the process for selling CDs through PayPal on your NoteWay website. Your NoteWay website is now integrated with PayPal’s shopping cart software, which allows your customers to order multiple CDs at a time (previously, only one CD could be purchased at a time). You also now have the option of specifying shipping charges and calculating sales tax on your CD orders.

If you wish to add tax and shipping charges, you must log in to your PayPal account. Once you’re logged in to PayPal, click on the “Profile” tab. Under “Selling Preferences” you will see links to add sales tax and shipping calculations. If you don’t see these additional options in the PayPal control panel, you may need to upgrade your PayPal account to “premium”. Upgrading your PayPal account to premium will not cost you extra, but PayPal will charge you a small processing fee for each order.

Adding the shopping cart to your NoteWay site is easy:

  • On the main menu in the control panel, select Account Details.
  • Select Update PayPal account (for CD sales).
  • Enter the e-mail address for your PayPal account in the form provided and click Save Changes.
  • Return to the main menu, select Website Pages, then Music, then Edit CD, then select the CD you wish to sell through PayPal.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the form and select Sell this CD using PayPal and click Save Changes.

“Add to cart” and “View cart” buttons will appear on the CD page of your website and you are ready to accept orders!

Featured Article: How To Create MP3s Using iTunes

Some of our customers who are just getting starting with their new music website want to know how to encode their CD tracks into the MP3 format, which allows them to share their music on their music page. The good news is that it’s very easy to do. What follows is a very brief tutorial on how to create MP3s using the iTunes software from Apple.

While there are many different ways to create an MP3 file from a CD track, I’ve chosen to use iTunes in this tutorial, since it’s free and works on both Macintosh and Windows computers. If you don’t already have iTunes installed on your computer, you can download it from Apple’s website.

Streaming Music Player Update

We’ve made some “under the hood” changes to the way in which the streaming music player works on your music page. Without getting into a lot of technical details, these changes were necessary in order to be compatible with an update to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser for Windows. An article is available with the full details about the update to Internet Explorer. Your music page will work exactly the same way as before, except that some visitors using older browsers may not be able to see the player. This can easily be solved by upgrading to a newer browser (NoteWay recommends the free Mozilla Firefox browser). If you have any questions or concerns about this change, please feel free to contact us.
